I want to go home
to the place where I was safe
from life's cruel taunts
where I was sure of my place and
how much I belonged
I want to go home
I long to be home
to open a door into a calming space
where love is the norm
and angry words aren't welcome
where I am greeted with smiles
I long to be home
I need to go home
to the place that replenishes
my very soul
to the place that makes me whole
to the people who I know will always
welcome me home
